I work while recovering from PTSD from losing my daughters in a brutal divorce, juggling the responsibilities of caring for my mother and stepfather, who is a veteran with dementia, I am also committed to growing my own business, which focuses on aiding the growth of other businesses. On June 5th, 2023, Tom Moraca placed an order with my company and inquired about the turnaround time. I assured him that the order would be in his hands by June 19th. Additionally, he requested that all communications be directed to Ariel Acevedo. I promptly sent Ariel the invoice, ensuring that our prices were already 30% lower than those of our online competitors. I then proceeded to prepare the shirts and coordinate the production team to meet the promised timeline for the order. However, I was taken aback when I received a call from Ariel on June 9th, adopting an accusatory tone, questioning the high invoice amount. I patiently explained that the cost of the long-sleeved shirts were more than double compared to previous short-sleeve prices, but she abruptly ended the call. At that moment, I sensed there might be an issue but continued to work diligently on their project, confident that our local pricing remained the most competitive. Over the following weeks, I sent several emails regarding various aspects of their order, but I received no response. In an effort to maintain open lines of communication, I personally delivered the samples Tom and Richard had requested to Ariel, only to receive no update in return. On June 16th, I sent an email to Ariel, expressing my concern about how important communication was and also reached out to Tom through Linkedin to address the ongoing lack of communication with Ariel. Unfortunately, I did not receive any response from either party. Throughout my 35+ years in this industry, I have never encountered a situation where an order was placed, and the company contact failed to provide any updates or explanations. Whether it be informing me of an issue, notifying me of a lost job, or explaining any unforeseen circumstances, I have always been accustomed to prompt communication. However, I am not accustomed to being completely ignored after an order has been placed, especially when such behavior directly and intentionally harms my business. With no communication from Ariel or Moraca Builders, I assumed the order had been lost, and it became apparent that Moraca Builders had severe communication deficiencies. I made the decision to move on and discontinue any further engagement. Unexpectedly, on June 28th, I received an email requesting two additional quotes. Considering the lack of response to previous emails and personal visits, I was surprised that new requests were being made. I asked for Tom's email and phone number so I could have a brief discussion, business owner to business owner, about the mishandling of this order by Ariel and the ongoing lack of communication. Ariel responded, saying, "I will have to get back to you on that since he wanted me to handle the details. I will reach out to you tomorrow." However, tomorrow came and went without any contact from Ariel. The following day, when I attempted to call Tom to express my concerns, Ariel acted as a gatekeeper and refused to connect me. On June 30th, I received a late-day notification that they intended to proceed with the order. We continued to work on the graphics for the Moraca order over the next week, but access to Tom was still unavailable. According to Ariel, everything was supposed to be ready by the end of the July 12th week. To my surprise, on July 19th, I received an email from Ariel stating that they would not be moving forward with the order due to indecisiveness. This reason left me perplexed and questioning the validity of such an explanation. How can a reputable company rely on indecisiveness as a justifiable cause to cancel an order, especially after weeks of silence and lack of communication? It raises concerns about the integrity and professionalism of Moraca Builders, leaving me to wonder if there are deeper issues underlying their decision-making process. I carefully contemplated whether to leave this review, as I firmly believe that kindness should be the guiding principle, and leaving a trail of love in one's wake is the best approach. However, in this particular instance, I feel compelled to inform other businesses about the potential negative impact that Moraca Builders can have on their operations. I fully understand that Moraca Builders is a busy company, and I respect that. However, my respect was lost due to their complete lack of common courtesy and communication. Tom Moraca, Moraca Builders, and Ariel are evidently lacking in integrity, professionalism, and communication skills, which is highly disappointing when compared to the standards I have observed in most other businesses. |
